Great Book Swap & “Dress as a book character” Indigenous Literacy Day fundraiser Wednesday 6th September The funds we raised for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation will buy new books for young Indigenous children in remote communities. Thank you to everyone who made a donation and took part.

Persistence finally paid off for our keen group of Year 9 Connections - Fish for the Future students with a day of fine weather coinciding with a recent field trip to Portarlington. Making the most of sun-filled skies and light winds, the students promptly put together a catch and release bag of twenty plus Australian salmon. As part of the Year 10 Physical Education curriculum, students have been working diligently on improving their fitness after learning to design a personal six-week training program. Earlier in the unit, students participated in some testing - in order to gauge their initial level of fitness across a range of components, including aerobic capacity, muscular endurance and muscular strength. YEAR 9 & 10 NETBALL REPORT In week two, a group of 13 keen netballers competed against 10 other Geelong schools at Geelong Basketball Netball Centre. Our A team made it through to the semi-finals, losing narrowly to Geelong High, whilst it was our B team that surprised us – with a couple of convincing wins despite only having 6 players.

African Drumming Incursion

Year 7 and Year 9 Music Incursion – African Drumming.

On Wednesday, Year 7 and Year 9 Music students along with members of the Rock Band and Choir had the opportunity to experience some African Drumming workshops. Each workshop was full of energy, dancing and lots of drumming. This incursion will support students with their Music Cultures unit of study. A big thanks to Miss Newman for arranging the incursion and to Year 7 teachers who supported students through their workshops.

A huge congratulations to our Maintenance Manager, Neville Gillett who recently received the Melville Jones Fellowship Award from the Lions Club. This is the highest award Lions can achieve internationally. The award is to recognise outstanding Lions who have made a significant contribution to Lionism.
