COMMUNITY SPORT ETIHAD STADIUM TOUR
Intermediate and Senior VCAL Excursion to Sovereign Hill Year 9 Connections Program Students involved in the Community Sport focus group have been learning about sports practices throughout the community. The aim of the Community Sport group has been to learn about coaching and leadership and what impact positions of responsibility can have on local sporting teams. Students have researched and observed different coaching styles and learnt how to plan lessons/sessions to train a team.
On Tuesday 8th August, the group went on an excursion to Etihad Stadium in Melbourne for a guided tour. The students got to experience what it would be like to train and play at this world class facility, and also learn how Etihad Stadium relies on community sponsorship and the employment of thousands of people to continue to be a success. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and it was the first time many students experienced being at Etihad Stadium. Tim Hebbard
