On August 4th, 27 senior students set off to Mt Hotham for the annual snow trip adventure weekend. After an early start and arriving at the mountain around midday on Friday, students and staff were fitted with skis, boots, boards and bindings and unpacked in their rooms at the Snowbird Inn, which is conveniently located right in the heart of Hotham Village. After a quick lunch all students undertook a ninety minute professional lesson, before receiving further assistance from our experienced staff. For many students, this was their second, third, fourth or even fifth trip to the snow and most can now say that they are competent skiers or snowboarders. We were blessed with light winds and sunny days for the entirety of the trip. Although it didn’t snow while we were on the mountain, there was more than enough coverage on the groomed trails and the conditions were perfect for learning to ski and board. Arriving back at Lara late in the evening, saw the end to another very successful trip. I would like to acknowledge and thank Danielle Shay, Joel Armitage, Carly Hastie, Aaron Butters, Sally Wilks and Will Walker for their support and assistance throughout the entire weekend. I’d also like to thank every LSC Snowrider for their energy and enthusiasm and hope you all had an unforgettable experience.
