The New Zealand Snow Adventure was an amazing experience enjoyed by Lachlan B, Lucy B, Darcy D, Braydon D, Ashleigh D, Jordyn F, Emily F, Jordyn F, Logan F, James G, Annie H, Paul J, Will L, Marli M, Adam R, Jake V, Khloe W, Aiyden W & Ethan W.
These students skied and snowboarded the 2000m Mt Hutt in New Zealand, a snow experience that consisted of one glorious powder day and four beautiful bluebird days of snow heaven. Our non ski day consisted of a day in Christchurch. This city in 2011, experienced an earthquake which resulted in 185 deaths, 1000 CBD buildings demolished and 10,000 homes demolished. While in the city we visited the Re:Start Mall, which was built a year after the Earthquake once the CBD was reopened and is constructed of shipping containers.
We also enjoyed guided tours of the Antarctic Centre and Quake City, where we exchillerated by an Antaractic storm of -19° Celsius and 30km icy winds, and were lead through a museum of the devastation that occurred in 2011. Thank you to Mr White and Mr Hassett who assisted throughout the trip.
