Students of 9A, 9B and 9C arrived at Lara Station early on the morning of Tuesday 25th October for the first of our two Urban Camps. There was a lot of excitement in the air and once we got to Nomads Backpackers in Melbourne and dropped off our bags, we split up into separate groups to go and participate in the first of our activities. There was a lot of fun swimming and completing the Wipeout course at MSAC, watching a movie at IMAX, and ice-skating at O’Brien Group Arena. Three groups then went to Lygon Street and had as much pizza and pasta as they could fit in before taking each other on at Ten Pin Bowling, with Drew B, Hayley Y and Mr Taylor posting impressive scores. The Food and Entertainment group tried many different cuisines throughout China Town and the CBD before heading to bed.
The next two days consisted of navigating our way around the city and enjoying activities such as a cruise down the Yarra River, the Eureka Tower Edge Experience, Village Cinemas and the Melbourne Gaol. Students will now take what they learnt from these experiences back to the classroom to prepare for their Visual Diary presentation in Week 8, where they will compare many aspects of Melbourne and Geelong.
