Last week we hosted Heather Gurrie, the Principal of Te Aroha College in New Zealand. Heather had been referred to our school, as one of three she visited in Victoria, by the educational group Solution Tree Australia. Heather visited classes, along with time spent discussing our “instructional framework” and our ongoing work in developing high quality teacher practice through Robert Marzano’s “Art and Science Teaching” and our increasingly strongly established Professional Learning Community wo…
Our Anzac Day assembly was a fabulous celebration and recognition of the sacrifices that continue to be made by our Service Men and Women. As always, the respect offered by our entire student body was impeccable, and the contributions made by the School Captains and our Cadets sensational. We were incredibly honoured to have in attendance representatives from the Lara RSL, and were privilege to have Mr Bruce Challenor in attendance. Mr Challenor has announced the provision and support of an Anz…

Last week our annual Athletics Carnival was held. The athletes (and officials) were in good spirits despite the wet weather, and it didn’t seem to discourage many from running, jumping and throwing to the best of their ability. A huge thank-you again to our Sports Coordinator Aaron Malcolm, for his work in the lead-up to and on the day.
It’s been an exciting term for Year 9 students involved in the Connections Personal Challenge program with each TLC group participating in a series of adventure-based activities designed to take students outside of their comfort zone and further develop skills in teamwork, leadership, organisation, persistence and self-management. This year Kayla T from Year 7 had the fantastic experience of joining in the festival representing the Wathaurong Tribe.
Congratulations Kayla on your involvement in such a special community event.
