Class of 2016 Graduate

Indigenous Literacy Day fundraiser

On Wednesday the 7th of September staff and students came dressed up as a book character for a gold coin donation in support of the     Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Characters on the day included Wally, some wonderful wizards, Wimpy Kids, Matilda, and we discovered that students at LSC  really enjoy reading Manga as several came dressed as a Manga character.

YEAR 11 OUTDOOR EDUCATION LAKE MOUNTAIN SNOW TRIP

The Year 11 Outdoor Education class went on an excursion to Lake Mountain on Friday August 26th. They left at 5-30am and returned at 6.45pm – a BIG DAY! After a lot of rain in the days preceding the trip, it snowed all day and the temperature was minus one degree celsius.

It was the first snow experience for many of the students. Students learned to walk, stop and go downhill on cross-country skis. One   injured student, unable to ski, donned snow shoes for the day.

YEAR 9 CONNECTIONS PULSE RADIO GROUP

The Year 9 students in Pulse Radio focus group led by Mr Wang have been working hard towards a half an hour radio show in Term 3 by tackling issues related to youth. They managed to make a real impact on the thinking of the people involved in these issues. This connection program provided them an opportunity to express their thoughts on radio and helped them gain employability skills. Connections - Community Sport

Students involved in the Community Sport focus group have been learning about sports practices throughout the community.  The aim of the Community Sport group has been to learn about coaching and leadership and what impact positions of responsibility can have on local sporting teams.  Students have researched and observed different coaching styles and learnt how to plan lessons/sessions to train a team.

First Game:

We played really well, but we were still learning which was okay. People waited for the ball instead of chasing for it, but we were still learning game tactics and play. We lost a goal but not to our fault, just well played by the opposition Bellarine. We started to develop more defence and midfield play. We kept our structured positions.

Are you sick and tired of these cold winter mornings? Then, come and join us at the LSC Breakfast Club in room 311, every Tuesday and Friday. Breakfast is available for free to all students, from 8.20am to 8.55am.

SENIOR DEBATING EVENING

On Thursday 4th August a small group of committed debaters presented their arguments on the topic: ‘That Australia is a poor international citizen.’

Despite the challenging topic, all speakers put forward relevant and interesting arguments, and were able to rebut their opposing teams cleverly. Spine Crackers Book Club Melbourne Excursion

On Wednesday 3rd August 2016 we did a tour of the Library at the Dock and had a ride on the Melbourne Star Observation wheel.
