Annual VCE BOOK SALE Tuesday 1st December .

To all Senior students and families,                                    

The Parents and Friends Group at Lara Secondary College will be holding their annual VCE BOOK SALE on Tuesday 1st December from 1pm – 4pm at the school.

Books may be dropped off to the school in the week beginning Monday 23rd November to Friday 27th November to the school office or to Clive Allen-Paisley. All books will need to have labels attached with the contact details of the seller.

Sensational Supercats at Lara Secondary College

Over the past two weeks, a number of Year 9 Physical Education classes have had the opportunity to take part in a training session run by coaches and players from the Geelong Supercats. This session was used to reinforce the skills and knowledge taught in our Basketball unit in which students were required to not only participate in a basketball competition, but also umpire and score the games. August 14th to 21st was National Science Week and at Lara Secondary College, students and staff celebrated with a range of interesting, challenging and yummy activities. Fitting in with this years theme, “The Science of Light”, our Years 7 and 8 students were entertained by the Journeyman’s “Cosmo-dome”, a seven metre diameter, 4 metre high Mobile Planetarium. Year 10 Student Achievement James G from Year 10 Fit To Play is to be congratulated on his efforts in Cycling recently. He has represented the Lara Secondary College at the Vic Schools Cycling Championships in Dromana, finishing 1st by over 2 minutes!! We would like to tell you all about Medieval Day, which was held a few weeks ago. All of our comments are from the Reflections of 7E and 7F. In the Games activity we learnt that people used what they had available like pieces of wood or a wooden club – not very high tech. They played a lot of games at the taverns and there were gambling games where people tried to win money or food by betting – a lot like today. FIT TO PLAY HIKE August 2015

On the 5th -7 th August the Fit To Play class went on a three day hike up to the Grampians, as part our curriculum for Term 3. Once we got everything on the bus we headed off. We stopped at a road house on the way for lunch and after a long drive up there we arrived in Halls Gap.
