English at Lara Secondary aims to build real world literacy skills to help students communicate effectively in the outside world. Our passionate team of English teachers expand the thinking, reading, writing and speaking skills of our students through engaging text studies, hands-on projects and experiential learning.
We bring English to life through author visits and excursions, and students experiment with a wide range of interesting forms such slam poetry, instructional videos, restaurant review writing (after visiting a restaurant with their class!) and they create and record podcasts in a real recording studio.
We also offer Literature for Year 11 and 12 students who love to read and write. Literature is a dynamic subject where students will be exposed to a much wider range of texts and be with like-minded lovers of literature. English is a subject for every student, to provide them with the communication skills to reach their goals, whatever they may be.
