All students at our school are organised into one of our four Houses: Flinders (purple), Hovell (red), Serendip (yellow) and You Yangs (green).
Once assigned a House in Year 7, students remain in that group for the entirety of their time at Lara Secondary College.
Belonging to a house gives students a strong sense of identity and community, connecting them to a team that celebrates each individual’s strengths. Through the house system, our students experience camaraderie, teamwork, and mentorship as they come together at various points throughout the school year.
Students represent their House in various school events such as our swimming carnival, athletics carnival, spelling bee, debating and a wide range of lunchtime competitions that promote healthy competition. Students contribute House points, every time they compete in these competitions and also receive a House point every time they receive a success pass, for demonstrating our school values of Respect, Commitment, Teamwork and Excellence to a high level.
