The instrumental music program at Lara Secondary College provides students with practical opportunities to develop their musical capabilities. With a diverse range of instruments on offer, our professional team of instrumental teachers are accustomed to catering towards student interests.
All students, whether novice or advanced, can achieve success, with lessons tailored towards students’ personal goals and individual learning styles. Students also have the option to select between ‘group’ and/or ‘solo’ lessons, depending on their preferences.
Students are also provided with the opportunity to partake in the extra-curricular band program. This program emphasises ‘real-life’ learning through preparing for and participating in various musical concerts and performances. The opportunities aren’t limited to the school environment, but extend to the Greater Geelong region and beyond, students regularly perform at live music venues and at various festivals, shows and community events. Stagecraft skills are developed, with emphasis on leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork and collaboration. Students are also exposed to additional opportunities such as song writing, recording, editing and theory tuition are also available.
