Lara Secondary College is proud to be a School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) school. SWPBS is a globally recognised, evidence-based framework that helps schools create calm, safe, positive and inclusive environments where students and staff can thrive. It supports consistent whole-school approaches to behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion, creating the right conditions for effective teaching and learning.
Through SWPBS, we aim to:

reduce classroom disruptions and increase learning time

build positive relationships between students and staff

maintain a safe, orderly and supportive school environment.
Our behavioural expectations are guided by the College values of Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Respect. These expectations are explicitly taught, modelled and positively reinforced in classrooms and throughout the College. Students who demonstrate our values are acknowledged through our positive recognition program.
How SWPBS supports every student
Our approach is built around four key elements:

SWPBS is a shared commitment. Staff work alongside students, families and the wider community to ensure our expectations and practices are fair, inclusive and consistent. We provide ongoing professional learning for staff and use evidence to continually strengthen the support available to students.
