The VCE Vocational Major (VM) is an applied learning program within the VCE designed to give students greater choice and flexibility with their studies and include their interests and develop the skills and capabilities needed to succeed in further education, work and real life.
It prepares students to move into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, university (via non-ATAR pathways) or directly into the workforce. Students study subjects such as Personal Development Skills, Work related Skills, Numeracy and Literacy. as well as their choice of a VET course (1 day a week) or a School Based Apprenticeship.
They usually have 3 days onsite at the college, one day at Tafe for their VET course and one day in the workplace each week. The certificate aims to develop students’ skills, knowledge, values and capabilities to be active and informed citizens, lifelong learners and confident and creative individuals.
The Student Wellbeing Team is also available to support parents and guardians by offering advice and referrals to relevant agencies and external services, helping families address any concerns that may be impacting their child/young person.
