At Lara Secondary we offer the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
This certificate has two streams that students undertake based on their chosen career pathway, interests and strengths.
The VCE Scored stream is where students work toward achieving their VCE Certificate requiring a minimum of 16 Units during the two year duration of the VCE. (Year 11 & 12) The end of year culminates in students sitting end of Year Exams which contribute to an ATAR ( Australian Admission Tertiary Rank) Students have a choice of numerous VCE Scored subjects from which they can choose. This stream is the desired pathway for those students wishing to go to University and or Tafe for further schooling.
The VCE Vocational Major stream is where students work toward achieving their VCE Certificate requiring a minimum of 16 units during the two year duration of the VCE. ( Year 11 & 12) This steam is the desired pathway for students who are considering a pathway in the vocational areas and are seek and apprenticeship or traineeship. This steam is for students who are work ready and would like to implement their learning in the workplace. This steam allows students to undertake one day of SWL ( Structured Workplace Learning. As part of this pathway students need to undertake a Vocational Education and Training ( VET) course at the Tafe as part of their schooling.
